As part of an over one million dollar joint CNH brand hurricane relief effort, Kobelco Construction Machinery America LLC, is donating equipment and providing cash assistance to support humanitarian relief and reconstruction work in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.  Kobelco dealers in the region are also assisting in the efforts, diverting new equipment and delivering units to the areas hardest hit by the hurricane.

Kobelco has shipped two Dynamic Acera SK210 excavators from its plant in Calhoun, Ga., to the local government in Plaquemines Parish, La.  Located south of New Orleans, at the eastern edge of the Louisiana “boot”, the parish was severely damaged by Katrina.

"On behalf of Kobelco employees around the country, we extend our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by Hurricane Katrina,” said Bob Bernardi, vice president, Kobelco Construction Machinery America LLC. ''Kobelco is proud to be able to do its part to help.”

Kobelco will continue to work with its dealers in the region – and with the National Association of Manufacturers and other groups – to mobilize assistance to relief efforts for those affected by the disaster.

In addition to providing equipment Kobelco joins the other CNH brands as they match individual employee donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“The Kobelco excavators heading to the disaster area are well-suited for the work at hand.” said Bernardi.  “Both excavators will bear a special American eagle decal. Additionally, Kobelco employees at the Calhoun, Georgia manufacturing facility are signing their names – including special messages and best wishes for a quick recovery – on the inside of the machinery house doors.”
